  • the focus on the “gaps” between girls and boys, puts emphasis on gender differences
  • this conflict – the relation of popular culture to school culture-is not a new problem

Chapter 3- Frogs and Snails and Feminist Tales keypoints:

  • Can shift metaphors through which narratives are constructed
  • Attempting to provide alternative relations of power and desire
  • At the same time to relate these shifting images to the narrative structures that the children already understand.
